Guro completed her Masters degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2019. She studied classical singing and specialized in folk music from Rogaland, the tonality of Norwegian folk music, and the art of incorporating that into new music. In addition, she holds a bachelor’s degree in classical singing and music pedagogy from the same academy. After her studies she was hired as scientific assistant and co-author in the project Musikerne, bransjen og samfunnet where the results were published as a book in 2022

As a classically trained singer, Guro works as a soloist and as a professional ensemble singer. She is a member of Vokal Nord in Tromsø and Kilden Vokalensemble in Kristiansand. She is regularly sought after to join other ensembles, such as, The Norwegian Soloist Choir, Valen Vokalensemble and The Norwegian Women’s Choir.

During the celebration of the Queer Culture Year 2022, Guro created the show Eg er ikkje forelska i Martin! (ENG: I'm not in love with Martin!) in collaboration with writer Marte Fillan. Guro played the main character of Dortea, her first show as an actor. Set in 1922, the play is a queer story about a young woman, Dortea, figuring out her own sexuality in the form of a series of monologues, songs, and dance. Guro produced, wrote the music and lyrics, and developed the show.

Guro is a member of The Norwegian folk singing trio AUROM. In 2022, they had a world premiere of their new concert O, svage sind (ENG: Oh, fragile mind) at Førdefestivalen, which has received funding to be recorded and released during 2023/2024. In 2021, they  released their debut-album Utan å Dirre (ENG: With no shivering). The album received great reviews and was nominated for the Norwegian folk music awards in the category Open class. Aurom creates music inspired by both minimalistic melodies, the quiet and soft, and the intense expressive. By combining the group´s different vocal backgrounds, they use both traditional folk songs and texts, improv, and new pieces as basis for their music.
